Therefore I also want to spend my career working with documentary films and other film-related projects. It is a tough business to be in, especially as a woman filmmaker in Cambodia. But I just love it!
I was born in Kampong Cham, a city along the beautiful Mekong river about two hours drive from Cambodia’s capital Phnom Penh. However, many of my teenage years I spent with relatives in the United States before I returned to Cambodia.
In 2008 I started work as accountant for Meta House, a German cultural center in Phnom Penh that is well known in the country for its emphasis on documentary films. Meta House is headed by the German filmmaker and journalist Nico Mesterharm.
One thing led to the other. The year after I joined the Master class in documentary film at M.E.T.A. Film School. For me it was a dream that came through. I found great interest in exploring filmmaking and have been involved in a long list of interesting documentary film projects in a number of different capacities.
At the same time I have been studying for a MBA in business management at Singapore University Phnom Penh.
I live in Phnom Penh with my two children Sam and Sophie. My professional life is focused on different film projects and I am happy to offer my services as freelancer to anyone planning a film project in Cambodia. Read more about what services I offer.
In addition of my freelance film projects I am also heavily involved in the daily management of Meta House in Phnom Penh. I am also serving as the director of Karuna NGO in Phnom Penh.
